Question: low grade fever on tuesday night and wednesday, chills, body aches, with
stuffy nose. As of late yesterday afternoon, i started developing a rash ( little red dots) on face. It has spread now to neck, chest , upper back and a few on lower arms. My main concern is that i was around my 75 year old
mom, 3 grandkids under age 6, and my newly pregnant daughter ( friday and staurday) and worried i was contagious and didnt know it. please advise.

Brief Answer:
You should consider visiting your doctor...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through the details provided with diligence. What I read is that you have fever with myalgia, congested nose along with skin eruptions - petechia / nodular rashes spreading from face, neck, trunk and limbs. I am not sure if these are vesicular eruptions, if its itchy, if you had started medications and if you have similar rashes within oral cavity. However based on these features, I am concerned about chickenpox infection.

Chickenpox is highly contagious in the first few days. And yes, there is a risk of exposing this infection to your near ones. Therefore it is appropriate to visit your primary physician at the earliest. Physical examination of these rashes is absolutely necessary to confirm / rule out my prediction. Until then avoid further contacts with your family.

Hope this answered your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.
