default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: I have a low grade fever present now for 4 days. In addition I have used a blood pressure test wrist cuff and it indicates a BP of 145/110 and normal pulse of 72. I have been struggling with a recurring cough for several months now. and I have been to Drs. in Italy, and XXXXXXX as recent as 3 weeks ago. The blood pressure cuff belongs to my brother and I used it a couple of days ago and my BP was normal range of 128/80.....the fever and chilss have incresed since then so I thought I would check the BP just out of curiosity. My temp has varied from 99-100.5 and responds to tylenol.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be a respiratory tract infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
The presence of high WBC count especially if there is increase in the Neutrophil count and fever is suggestive of a bacterial infection. The presence of cough points to a lung infection.
Blood pressure elevation can occur in any stressful situation and an infection or anxiety are common causes.
It may be better to see a doctor if the fever and cough persists and to have yourself examined and tested, so that the cause can be detected and proper treatment taken.
If the blood pressure does not come back to normal after treatment of the infection, you would require treatment for the same.
For the present, reduce your salt intake and practice stress relieving techniques.
