What Causes Loud Snoring In A Child?

Question: my 3 year old son snores loud. hes only 30.1lb so hes not big. also when he sleeps out of the nowhere he starts to cough like hes about to throw up and there's times he does.

Snoring usually occurs either due to aberrations in structure of the nose and pharynx (like deviated nasal septum, nasal polyps) or due to the shape of tongue base. This could lead to obstructive sleep apnea and could be problematic.

Some allergic component could also be involved.

I would insist you to take your son for a ENT checkup. He would be able to make a thorough examination and would be able to identify the possible cause. Based on that further intervention can be planned.
