What Causes Light Bleeding After IVF Transfer Procedure?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Mar 2015
Question: Hi, I am on day 8 since my IVF transfer and started light bleeding yesterday. It stopped yesterday afternoon but when I woke this morning there was light bleeding again. It is not heavy and different to a normal period that would be in full flow by day 2. I am on 2x crinone 8% pessaries a day - could my body be fighting with the crinone gel and that is why my period is late or at this earlish stage is it more likely implantation??

Brief Answer:
menstruation not pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and I understand your concern. In vitro fertilization has its failure rates and depends upon the expertise of the doctors.
As far as your history is concerned implantation bleeding is slight and short term and does not recur usually.
On the other hand progesterone which you are on are very likely to delay and reduce the flow of the menstrual cycle. So it could be a failed IVF followed by menses.
There is only one way to know. Of you have been day 33 since last menses morning dipstick urine pregnancy test will give a clue and a day 40 sonogram confirm the pregnancy.
As far as I suspect it's menstrual cycle reduced in flow and frequency by progesterone and not a pregnancy.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
