default
Posted on Mon, 21 Jul 2014
Question: Hello sir,
M 24 yr old female. In march I started feeling very weak and lathargic. On examination found deficiency of vitamin d (less than 10.50 nmol/L), apart from that hemoglobin, T4 free, TSH, CBC all were normal. Injection of vitamin d(6 lacs) and some tablets were given. After 1 month my vitamin d level raise to 60. Then again I was given tablets of vitamin d weekely(60k) for 2 months. After 1 month of taking injection I started feeling a little better but 2 weeks later sudenly i started feeling some uneasiness in my head(sort of light dizziness) almost whole day along with pain n weakness in my legs n hands, I struggled with this dizziness n pain for about 1 month n now m somewhat relieved but still chronic weakness n sometimes light dizzoness is there( not even able to wash my clothes, go to work n after comming from work I need my bed badly, have only this much energy that I can make myself manage to work very forcefully). Apart from that I have no problem neither of sleep nor apetite. Day by day its improving but improvement is so slow that I feel its going to take 6 months to make me feel alrite. I can understand the reason behind my weakness(vitamin d) but m worried about my dizziness. When i go to doctors they say everything is fine but I dnt feel like m fine n I dnt think I hv any depression or anxiety issues

Brief Answer:
Symptoms suggest neuro-muscular disease process.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

Vitamin D deficiency is not the probable cause of symptoms of dizziness and weakness of legs.
Vitamin D deficiency has been corrected by the vitamin D supplements.
In future vitamin D rich foods should be included in diet once the normal level is reached.

The symptoms of dizziness and weakness in legs suggests some kind of neuro-muscular disorder.
It is not possible to pin-point a single cause of these symptoms.
Clinical assessment as well as relevant investigations are required to diagnose the disease.
So, I suggest you to consult a physician at the first instance for clinical examination and relevant investigations.
Once the final diagnosis is made, appropriate treatment can be instituted.

If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.
