What Causes Left Sided Chest Pain?

Question: I had pain on the left side of chest. It was't like when I had a heart attack and it wasn't very long, but it scared me.I had eaten a BLT a little before I had the Pain.

Brief Answer: Don't be scared... Detailed Answer: Hi, From what I understand you had a short duration left side chest pain after you ate BLT. You had this complain in the back ground of previous open heart surgery. And as per my knowledge, you must be on antiplatelet drugs and other cardioprotective drugs now. Are you not on those drugs? Medicines prescribed following a heart attack are fairly able to control a second attack. Therefore you need not be scared. Moreover this ache seems to have vanished now. You can now visit the ER or urgent care clinic where you can get an EKG along with cardiac enzymes tested. Normal EKG and cardiac enzymes should put all doubts to rest. In the meanwhile I would start you on antacids and warm fluids. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications. Regards
