Brief Answer:
Needs evaluation, best to go to the ER and get an ECG done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Chest pain on breathing is most often due to a pulled muscle however, it could also be due to heart issues and one can never be sure about it.

So the best thing to do is to go to the Casualty(ER) and get checked to make sure it is not something serious.

If you could tell me the exact location and the type of pain, and if the pain gets worse or better on eating something, I would be able to give some more useful advice, however, without a proper physical exam it would still be a guess so please go to the ER or else you can consult your primary care physician (internal medicine MD) and get evaluated.

I hope this answers your query.

Wishing your wife speedy recovery.

Best regards
