Brief Answer:
What type of cancer and what is the histopathology report

Detailed Answer:
Good day.
noted your concern. dose of synthroid is based on the type of cancer and the final histopathology report after surgery. in most Follicular avd papillary thyroid cancer , we need to keep TSH suppressed to the level of 0.01 for up to 5 years to prevent cancer recurrence. With a body weight of 150 pounds, you will atleast require 150 to 175 mcg synthroid to acheive the target TSH of 0.01. please attach the Histopathology report. that will help us further.

Brief Answer:
Cheer up

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for the reply. Got the attachments. Yes, it is papillary thyroid cancer and you need your TSH suppressed for 5 years. Hence need a higher dose of synthroid. I hope you are also seeing an endocrinologist apart from the surgeon. Endocrinologist will be able to guide you further and modify the dose. It may be a good idea to do a vitamin D level. When you take high dose synthroid to keep TSH suppressed, we need to protect your bones by taking Calcium and Vitamin D as well.

The Mood swings could be depression associated with the recent diagnosis of cancer. Not to worry. Thyroid cancer is easily treatable and the post operative nuclear scan was showing good results,
