Brief Answer:
Suspected cases of DGI (gonococcal arthritis)

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Gonococcal arthritis as a consequence of disseminated gonococcal infection (DGI) can occur without prior polyarthralgias.

Investigation:
Blood should be cultured in suspected cases of DGI.
You can undergo blood culture and if possible synovial fluid culture from affected joint .
Gonococci are however infrequently recovered from early joint effusions containing 80,000 leukocytes/μL.
The organisms are seldom recovered from blood and synovial fluid of the same patient.
