What Causes Jaw Pain Opening Mouth?

Question: I suffer from pain in jaws while opening mouth wide. Jaws sometimes get stuck while opening & closing them. Clicking sound is there sometimes while opening and closing. I had a dental xray done.It shows impacting wisdom tooth in lower jaw? Is this the root of problem. What could be the solution. Getting the wisdom tooth extracted?

This is Dr. Priyanka tiwari answering your query. - I have gone through your query , as you are mentioning that you have painful jaws with impacted tooth and clicking sound nothing to worry much XXXXXXX - See what happend is impacted wisdom tooth often invites bacterial infection causing pain , difficulty in opening mouth , but clicking sound on opening and closing mouth indicates Temporomandibular joint disorder also. - What I will suggest you is Impacted wisdom tooth can cause painful jaws so go for Extraction (Removal) of impacted wisdom tooth . - Do XXXXXXX warm saline gargle two -three times a day . - For clicking sound on opening and closing mouth for that you can take some precaution Like: -Take Soft Diet . -Avoid excessive mouth opening . -You can do Hot Formentation, you can do is take towel soak in warm water for sometime , squeeze it and put it on painful jaws both side. -Take these precautions you will get relief.
