default
Posted on Mon, 24 Nov 2014
Question: hi, I have been having pain in my jaw for a long time. I also observed swelling on my nose left side below eye. It was not paining, but it was a visible soft bump. Pain is not in any particular tooth but just all over my jaws. It is there all the time. Disappears for a week and back again but there. Also I see a white line on my left and right side inside jaw.. like a puss.. Everytime I go to a local doc, they just ask me to do tooth filling - I did that but pain isn't going...

Brief Answer:
Space infection, radiograph, medication.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
As far as the pain and swelling is concerned, it can be because of the tooth infection resulting in pus formation and spreading to involve soft tissue spaces called space infection. Normal filling will not solve the issue, if the decay or infection has reached the pulp.
Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get a radiograph like OPG and PNS view done to confirm the diagnosis.
Once the diagnosis is confirmed,If it is a tooth infection, it can be treated with root canal treatment.
If it is a sinus infection, then you have to consult a ENT surgeon.
If i am your treating doctor, i would have suggested you to take a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin and metronidazole combination till you consult the oral physician. Do saline gargling and do not apply pressure over the swelling.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
