What Causes Itching Sensation On Nipples Along With A Discharge?

Question: My husband has been complaining of itchy nipples. Last week one of them displayed a discharge. We went to the doctor who took a blood test to check prolactin levels, which were normal however the test showed inflammation and they have ordered a mammography. What does all this mean?

The male nipple having itchiness and now discharge from one of the nipples is a cause of
Concern.
This may be due to the infection caused by scratching the nipples.
By doing a mammography your Doctor wants to know whether the swelling is due to infection or cancer.

Please post the reports of mammography.
Insist for FNAC / biopsy of the suspected area for the earliest of the diagnosis.
