What Causes Itching On Scrotum When Diagnosed With Genital Herpes?

default
Posted on Sat, 21 May 2016
Question: Hi. For about a month and a half I have been having terrible itching of my scrotum/testicles. When I scratch shortly after they swell get very red as does my entire penis so much so I need to apply a cool compress. For two weeks now I had to add a sticky clear liquid ooze from my testicles. My penis swell and got so sore it now appears as if it almost had a burn and the skin is peeling and looks like a Shar-Pei dog. I have been taking antihistamine, using first aid cream, cornstarch, and I am now five days into an antibiotic. Nothing is helping what could be wrong. I am positive for genital herpes but did not have an outbreak

Brief Answer:
Please send a picture

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Based on your description it appears to be fungal infection of the scrotal skin. A look on the same would help me to give a confident opinion. Please do send an image of the affected skin.

Also, do mention the names with contents of the cream and other medications you are using for the same.

Waiting for your response,

Brief Answer:
Start antifungal

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for getting back.

Continue Benadryl for the itching, if not coming down then you can take a better antihistaminic like Levocetrizine 5mg tablet once in the night not more than for five days.

Stop the first aid cream and the powder.

Apply Micogel (Miconazole) cream on the the affected skin twice daily after thoroughly washing with soap. Also, dust the affected skin with Ketoconazole dusting powder once a day in the noon. This would definitely work, if do not see any difference in two days then do click an image of the scrotal skin and forward it to me.

Wish you good health.

I unfortunately am at work and not in a position to be able to do so. The baby powder is just your typical over-the-counter XXXXXXX and XXXXXXX with cornstarch, the antibiotics is Keflex & the first aid cream is just the standard XXXXXXX & XXXXXXX first aid cream for cuts burns and bruises and Benadryl is just the antihistamine to help me with the itching
