What Causes Itching Bumps After Having Intercourse Inspite Of Using Monistat?

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Apr 2014
Question: I never had any puss filled bumps.. I had intercourse over 3 months ago and my symptoms got worse after using monistat. I went to the doctor 3weeks after intercourse and I was told I had a yeast infection. I couldn't get to refill the meds so I used monistat 3 Immediately it burned and itches. None of the bumps have opened into any kind of sore.. i have been using yogurt to ease the itching.I went to the doctor yesterday and was told that she didnt see anything out of the ordinary. I woke up to and found three open cuts they don't hurt at all and my discharge is still cause a slight burning sensation. No burning during urination and no stomach pains or groin pains. The medicine I used for the yeast infection gave me stomach cramps and a headache. .. what could this be.

Brief Answer: Get a culture of the discharge from the bumps Detailed Answer: Hi Ms XXXX, I can understand your concerns. I advise you to stop using monistat because a) Its not helping you clear your infection b) Its causing side effects like stomach cramps and headaches. The bumps certainly look like infection but not necessarily yeast. It can be viral or bacterial infection . Since Monistat is anti fungal only it will not help. Also yoghurt is of not much help either in such cases. I will advise you to get a culture report of the discharge from the bumps or a small biopsy of the bump so that the exact organism is known and then the medication can be started according to the report. Do follow up with us with the report.

There is no discharge from the bump.. she swapped me. After sex I didnt have any of these symptoms only after monistat. The meds the doctor gave me also cause me to have stomach pains and headache. Is it possible to have herpes with no pain in my abdominal area or groin area which was never swollen during this 3 month period. And this problem also cause my period to be irregular.

Brief Answer: Get a biopsy of bumps Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX, Herpes is generally very painful .As you said you ave no pain so it is less likely. It can be viral warts due to Human papilloma virus or Molluscum contagiosum. Both are not painful and both cause bumps . To find out the exact cause you then need a biopsy as you do not have discharge now. This is because the virus needs to be seen under the microscope to confirm . Do not worry as all these are very much treatable. Get the biopsy report and let me know so that i can tell you which medicines to start. And for the time being stop using Monistat. Where exactly are the bumps? On vaginal lips, buttocks , near thigh or inside vagina? Does your sex partner also had history of lesions on his genitals ever? You can ask him and let us know as it will help find the source and cause.

Brief Answer: HPV less likely Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXX, Thank you for updating that pap report. HPV is less likely if pap is normal. So that leaves us with molluscum contagiosum or just a bacterial infection like staphylococcus . Are you a diabetic? Did you cut yourself while shaving your private parts? Either ways apply the neosporin cream and if it also does not help go for a biopsy.
