default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: I had redness and itching in my left eye. I consulted a doctor and they said its Allergy Conjunctivitis and gave me "Lotepred", "Acupate" and "Refresh EZEE". For first few days it was fine and then itching started again, in both eyes. Then i consulted an another doctor and he said its just an allergy. He prescribe me "Systane Ultra" and "FML-T". From last 14 days there is no relief. Getting redness and itching again
Also i am daily getting cold in the morning, is both the things related ?? Please suggest, what to do ? Do i consult an eye specialist or general physician?

Brief Answer:
You need to consult physician doctor specialized in treating allergies.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having symptoms of itching and redness of the eyes.
The treatment prescribed by both the doctors you have consulted is similar and is in right direction.
Lotepred and FML-T are steroid eye drops and are required in acute phase of allergic conjunctivitis. Systane ultra and Refresh eye drops are artificial tears eye drops and provide symptomatic relief. Acupate is an antiallergic drug and is used in treatment of allergic conjunctivitis.

In all allergic conjunctivitis treatment is required for 1- 3 months depending on the severity.
I would suggest you to continue Acupate two times per day and either systane ultra or Refresh eye drops for 1-3 months.
Lotepred or FML-T being steroid being steroid should be used under supervision of your treating doctor.

Along with the medical treatment you need to avoid exposure to dust, smoke, wind and to known allergen if any.
Cold in the morning also indicates allergy and this is related to your eye condition. This requires treatment by the use of antiallergic tablets like cetrizine. For treatment of cold you need to consult your physician.

Both the conditions being related to allergy it is better to consult doctor specialized in treating allergic disorders.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
