Posted on Wed, 8 Jul 2015
Question: My age is 18 year old... My period is not regular. Some time i get periods in 2-2.5 months and some times in one month only..
My bleeding lasts for 2-3 days and very light in colour and more watery.., And some times black in colour or white liquid discharges as water...

At times of my menstrual bleeding i feel burning in my uterus and pain.

I want to know the reason for the same.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be hormonal cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Irregular periods in your age group are mostly due to hormonal disturbances like hypothyroidism, hyperprolactemia or polycystic ovarian disease.
Of these, polycystic ovarian disease is the most common diagnosis.
Scanty flow during menstruation can be due to hormonal disturbances or due to uterine infection like tuberculosis.
I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated including hormonal profile, ultrasound and menstrual blood for examination of tuberculosis, and get appropriate treatment.
I would like to have the information about your height and weight, whether you had this problem since your periods started and whether you have abnormal hair growth on face, thighs or abdomen.
These points will further help me to reach to a diagnosis.
Please do get back to me with the information, if feasible.
Regards,
Dr Deepti Verma
