default
Posted on Thu, 24 Dec 2015
Question: I have been on the nuva ring for 7 years. Monthly cycles have always been regular. In September I took the nuva ring out a week early by accident. I didn't have a period in October. I got a period in November at the right time. But a week later around ovulation I started bleeding again, it started as a brown discharge for a couple days then red blood. I since have been bleeding and its been over a week. I am 35 years old and negative pregnancy test

Brief Answer:
Could be due to hormonal disturbances.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
This bleeding could be due to mild hormonal changes caused by nuvaring removal.
But as you are bleeding so long your problem needs evaluation and you should consult a Gynecologist and get yourself examined and investigation like ultrasound pelvis, blood test and thyroid profile done to rule out the cause like fibroid, polyp, PCOD, infection, anaemia and thyroid disorder.
Nowstart taking iron and haemostatic drug to control bleeding.
Hope found useful, feel free to discuss more information.
Good luck.
Regards
