What Causes Intermittent Pain In The Left Leg?

default
Posted on Tue, 20 Jun 2017
Question: For last couple weeks I've had an intermittent pain in my left leg., the inside of my calf. I mostly notice it when I walk although I did notice it at night once. It is tender to the touch. Today it feels like the location of the pain has spread slightly to the back of leg. I don't see swelling or redness. I'm not short of breath and don't have chest pain. How can I determine if this can wait for an appointment with my doctor. Friends say I should go,to ER but I feel foolish going to ER over muscle pain.

Brief Answer:
Better to get a Venous Doppler

Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic...
Thank you for posting your query here,

I will analyze all your points.
Firstly Please note,
you have given a wonderful history.

50 plus with such a history needs all that you have told here...

Well, I do agree with you for not going to ER.
But, do not overlook this either..

I'd suggest you get a Venous Doppler scan done to rule out Deep Vein Thrombosis, i.e. DVT.
Sometimes, it presents like this and can lead to Pulmonary Thromboembolism not immediately but in advanced stages..

So, just go ahead and get this done.
You can get back to me with the reports later on...
