Question: Since last Thursday morning, I have only slept about 6-8 hours total. Can't sleep, nervous, anxious. On Wellbutrin. Lack of appetite and just shaky. We are going thru a lot right now so I know I am depressed but I have never experienced insomnia like this! Thank you

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

What you are describing is an anxiety disorder, potentially generalized anxiety disorder or panic disorder. This is impacting your ability to sleep. The first thing I would do is switch from Wellbutrin to an SSRI antidepressant. Wellbutrin is known for worsening anxiety and is likely making it worse in your case. You have already tried good over the counter anxiolytics including Benadryl and melatonin, so it may be time for a prescription sleep medication like Trazodone. I would speak to your prescribing doctor about making these medication changes.
