Brief Answer: He will need an antipsychotic Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. Many patients of PTSD have psychotic symptoms and the fact that your partner was on thorazine suggests that he is suffering from PTSD with psychosis. If he is displaying increased anger and irritability when he is off thorazine, He definitely needs to be on an anti-psychotic. Risperidone and olanzapine are good options for him as they will control his anger as well as there wont be any significant adverse effects. Also clonidine could be a good drug to reduce the sympathetic shoot up which patients of PTSD have. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
