Question: 84 year patient hospitalised for Hyponatremia.past h/o DM ,HTN and IHD.request you to kindly conform exact cause of hyponatremia in this case.refer attached docuemnts

Dear Sir
I have studied the documents attached with this query. It mentions that patient had altered sensorium possibly due to hyponaterimia (low sodium).
The only possible cause mentioned in documents is poor oral intake. Poor oral intake can lead to hyponatremia only when a subject goes on drinking water without eating anything. No other clearly mentioned cause of hyponatremia is there in these papers.

Hyponatremia, it self can cause rhabdomyolysis. However Rhabdomyolysis does not causes hyponatremia unless there is renal failure and patient has water retention.
