Age related testosterone deficiency

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for trusting with your query miss Sharonkari

I have read your husband's problem and i can understand your concern. With normal thyroid and iron levels, hot flashes at the age of 80 are likely attributed to old age. In men when they get old, their testosterone levels drop just like estrogen drops in women after menopause. You can call it an andropause. So its the body getting deprived of androgens that causes these hot flashes. Apart from hot flashes, some other features of low testosterone levels in old men present as low muscle bulk, low body fat, less energey, tender breasts in some cases, sleep disturbance, changes ins exual functions, emotional changes like decreased motivation and decreased energy etc.

Now we can easily consider testosterone replacement therapy just like estrogen replacement therapy in woman, but the catch is at this age if we opt for it, we may compromise the heart, the prostate and many other problems and may open a pandoras box for your husband.

I would say fight it with natural measures, more mobility, good balanced natural diet, regular activity, exercise etc. Apart from it talk to your doctor and let them work on some other aspects like any medications that might be causing it mostly erectile dysfunction medications, associated depression and mood swings with this issue should be tackled and let your doctor devise a complete management plan and sort out what is best for your husband.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and yoru husband and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
