Question: I just returned from South XXXXXXX I took Malaria medication and had all my shots. I returned with a horrible headache and stuffy nose. I also have had neck and back pain. I went to a walk in clinic and was prescribed amoxicillin for sinusitis. I have been sleeping for days. For 2 days I slept 40 hours. This is not normal for me. Any ideas what I may have?

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. History of recent malaria, travelling followed by sinusitis along with jet lag altogether can explain the fatigue and excessive sleep. Use of sinusitis medications and decongestants and antihistamines on its own can cause sedation and may make a person somnolent. So no worries, keep taking the medications and keep an eye on your symptoms. i am sure, once the jet lag is gone and sinusitis improves a little bit, your routine and sleep cycle will be back to normal.

If it persists, get a sleep disorder specialist just to be on the safer road by ruling out some sleep sickness diseases like XXXXXXX trypanosomiasis etc.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan

Thank you for getting back to me

Headache and neck pain can result from sinusitis commonly and nothing to worry about. Needs just symptomatic treatment. Wait and see, symptoms will resolve in a few days. Take tylenol for the headache and pain in neck.

I hope it helps.
