What Causes High Heart Rate After Taking Betacap TR?

Question: Hi
I am taking betacap tr 40 from 6-7 months
I am 23 yrs old
My doc suggested it
As i was experiencing high heart rate like 100
And bp was 140/90

Please advice is this medicine safe?
Will it not cause any sexual side effects ?

I understand your concern

Betacap tr contain metoprolol, non-selective beta blocker.
It is safe and some minor side effect will occur after long term use but not in all cases.
Following minor side effects will occur:
Dizziness, fatigue, hair loss, night mare, insomia, hallucination and vivid dreams.

Sexual side effects like loss of sex drive will occur in 15-20 % case.
But is very less in severity.
You should take minimal dose under the advise of cardiologist.
You should contact your doctor to monitor your heart rate.
If you have side effects then consult your doctor.

Do regular exercise like walking and yoga 40-50 minutes daily in the morning, avoid saturated fat and oily food.
Take more fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables, drink plenty of water.

I understand your concern

You should take it under the observation of gynecologist.
Generally in 6-7 months, it will help in normalize the heart rate.
Betacap tr cause super sensitivity cause withdrawal side effects.

If heart rate is in good control, then should be tapering off by advise of cardiologist. (gradually reducing dose).
Avoid: smoking, alcohol, stress, extra salt and caffeinated drink
Do regular exercise and medication.
