What Causes High Fever After A Head Injury?

Question: My 6 month old daughter fell off the bed and within 20 minutes got a fever. Her fever is now up to 102.1*F. Is that normal from a fall?

Fever within minutes after fall may be just a coincidental finding.

I would suggest you to observe for the symptoms of head injury which warrant immediate physician's evaluation like vomiting,loss of conciousness,altered sensorimotor, abnormal movement and excessive irritability or lethargy.

Fever can be related to fall that can be due to neurogenic injury after few hours or days but that is seen in very severe cases and other symptoms must also be there.

So please monitor the temperature and if fever persists then consult a pediatrician for evaluation and treatment accordingly.
