What Causes High Cholesterol After Taking Amnesteem?

Question: 17 yo male, 5'5" 110", Aspergers Syndrome (high functioning), taking 2nd round of Amnesteem 75mg qd (first round a year ago). Presents with cholesterol of 356. Should we discontinue the Amnesteem? Mom very concerned. Thank you.....
His weight: 110# Exercise: Jumps on the trampoline at least 1 hour per day.

Amnesteem contains isotretinoin and it is used in treatment of cystic acne. May be, you are also using it for same, but it has few side effects like increased triglycerides, decreased HDL, anemia, dry eye, depression, anxiety symptoms, headache etc. In your case, high cholesterol may be due to this drug. Better to change it and shift to another medication. Rest, you can consult your physician or dermatologist.
