What Causes High SGPT Levels?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Jul 2014
Question: I received some lab test results that concern me and I am waiting on doctor to call me back but I am inpatient... My "Alt" is 56, Lymphs are 47 and Eos is 7 and Ldl is 104.... I went originally because I was blacking out and having face tingling during exercise. What might these numbers mean?

Brief answer... Nothing in particular except high SGPT
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have seen your reports and find that your lymphocytes,EOS and LDL are Normal.A slight increase beyond the normal range doesn't mean anything and is taken as normal, however your SGPT is definitely little high.
The most common reasons for high SGPT are alcoholism, use of pain killers, use of various types of herbal and non herbal health supplements, obesity and heavy exercises.Other causes can be autoimmune disease or liver disorders like hepatitis B or C etc.
Rest of your reports are normal.
You can approach it in two ways.
In case you feel that above mentioned common causes can be the culprit then you can stop using those things and get your SGPT repeated again after 2 months.
If you feel that you don't take any pain killers or supplements or alcohol, then you may straightaway get yourself tested for hepatitis markers etc to find the cause.
In addition, get your VIT D level also checked.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
