Also from last two week I ate pranthas along with butter also with heavy butter could that be the reason for my elevated enzyme SGPT from 69 to 117 ? I was being sober since august because I planned in 4months my all liver enzymes will come to normal and after that I can have a alcohol party on Christmas Eve so now as my result shown 117 SGPT enzyme so according to you can I celebrate Christmas with alcohol or not and if yes then how much amount will it be safe for me to consume so that it won't harm my any liver enzymes ?

Brief Answer:
Avoid taking alcohol.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ranjeet, Hi & Welcome.
I have gone through the report of liver function tests done during the last 3 months.

The results are suggestive of inflammation or injury to the liver.

Persistence high levels of liver enzymes despite of not taking alcohol could be due to some underlying liver problem like fatty liver which needs to be investigated for.
In view of this it is better for you to avoid taking alcohol as it may further aggravate the condition of the liver.
Take a healthy balanced diet preferably home cooked food, avoid fatty meals, increase the intake of fruits and vegetables, and do regular exercise.

Continue taking Silymarin tablets and Liv 52.
Hope to have answered your query.
However if you have any follow up query, please feel free to ask.
Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
You may repeat the tests following an overnight fasting

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your reply.

The liver enzymes can increase following the intake of high fatty meal (like "paranthas with butter") of fast and junk foods. But this is usually associated with an increased serum triglycerides and cholesterol levels.

The liver function tests including lipid profile are usually done following an absolute overnight fast for about 8-10 hours.

There are individual variation when it comes to the results of lab tests like liver enzymes and it depends upon a number of factors like alcohol intake, medications taken, or presence of some underlying liver problem.

So, in view of the above you can repeat the liver function tests along with lipid profile after an absolute overnight fast for about 8-10 hours. This may help in finding out the reason.

Hope this will help.

Is it possible that liver test might go down to normal in two days from 117 ? Does this happen to everyone or to me only that if someone eat fatty meal his test will show rise in liver enzymes ? How many days should I continue with silymarin tablet and liv 52 tablets and also silymarin tablet is of 400mg so how many should I take in a day one tablet of silymarin or two ?

Brief Answer:
It may take longer time to return to normal levels.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ranjeet, Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your reply.

Liver enzymes usually take longer time to return to their normal levels, it may be several weeks or months. And the enzymes will rise after a couple of weeks of consuming high fatty meals.

The recommended dose for Silymarin is 140 mg 2-3 times/day.

Liv 52 is basically an Ayurvedic medication which is claimed to protect the liver from injury or inflammation but there is no scientific data to prove these claims.

Since liver has its own capacity to regenerate & heal by itself whether you take this medication or not. You can take Liv-52 as such there is no problem in taking it.

Hope these answer your queries.
Best wishes.
