Question: What causes hepatomegaly ? Is it hereditary ? Is there a problem if the liver is mildly enlarged? Is there a way to bring the liver back to normal with dietary changes or change of lifestyle or medicines?

As per your query regarding hepatomegaly.
1. Usually hepatomegaly caused by liver disorders related to excessive alcohol use, congestive heart failure, glycogen storage disease, viral hepatitis, liver cancer, and steatosis (fat in the liver). It can also be caused by a large variety of other disorders, such as mononucleosis or tumor metastases from other primary cancers in the body.
2. It is not hereditary. May sometimes we can see weak liver function in our family due to bad food habits and another causes, over dosage of Pain killer and another medicines which taken as self medication.
3. If liver is mildly enlarged, there is not any significant problem seems, but patient have always week metabolism and lack of immunity from this condition. In this condition if patient can not take care about food habit and do not avoid alcohol consumption, it can be increased.
4. By Ayurveda medicines it can reverse truly. Please start the medicines of Ayurveda as:
A. Liv-52 Syrup 10 ml twice a day
B. Bhunmimbadi kadha 20 ml twice a day
C. Faltrikadi Ghan 2 tabs twice a day
D. Amlycure DS Syrup (Aimil Pharma) 10 ml twice a day

Mostly these medication have to continue for six months to one year.
there is not any side effects from these medicines. and its also not habitual too.

In Diet
Please avoid
1. Stale food
2. Menda flour food
3. Oily and outside food.
4. Avoid high calories like cheese, paneer, Oil and Ghee in food
4. Regular walking, jogging, yogasana ane pranayam also give you more support.
