What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding During 12th Week Of Pregnancy?

Question: Hi Doctor,
I had two previous miscarriages and this is my third pregnancy. I did have bleeding during 6th week and 8th week. Then I was completely fine. However during 12 weeks 5 days I suddenly started bleeding and was quite heavy (around 3 pads fully soaked in half an hour). After an ultra sound, I was happy to see baby's heart beat. I have a SCH measuring 4Cmx2Cm which I hope would get dissolved. Now on 13 weeks 1 day, I had throat infection, cough and cold. Due to these I feel little feverish (temperature being 98.9). I am already taking Duphastin, loprin, Folic acid. Now I have been prescribed Dolo 650, Novomex. I am worried of taking too many tablets. Will this affect my baby? Will it have any effect on d developing baby? Also please advice when everything is normal, why do I bleed so much suddenly .

Hi,

I understand your concerns about bleeding.

The bleeding is likely to be due to the threatened abortion. Meaning baby was trying to abort but fortunately survived.

This SCH will slowly heal. Don't worry about it.

Dolor 650 is a safe drug and is required now as you have fever.

Other drugs are also supportive for pregnancy. Continue them. They won't harm you or baby. Your baby's growth will be normal even with these drugs.

Thank you Doctor for the reply! I have one more concern which i forgot to mention in my previous question. I was having pelvic pain due to which I had a very disturbed sleep. I will not be able to sleep for more than 10 min on one side. It starts paining and after a good massage for 10 seconds, I will be able to sleep better for XXXXXXX half an hour and again this continues. When consulted my gynec, she was worried that I am already under medication and didn't want to disturb my natural balance by prescribing too many. However for past two days, I have very severe pelvic pain including the bone between legs. It's so severe that I am not able to sit or even lift my leg to walk. Has this increased due to continuous sneezign and coughing for past two days? I tried hot packs and had even tried applying moov but it doesn't seem to improve. Please suggest If this pelvic pain would increase as baby grows and also will this affect my ability to bear delivery pain? My mom was surprised to hear this as she has never seen anyone complaining so much pain during 14th week in her experience. Please advice why am I getting such severe pains

Hi,

Such pelvic pain is normally seen at this period of pregnancy which is due to expansion of your pelvic cavity for accommodation of baby. This is done by stretching of ligaments and muscles.

Another possibility could be urinary tract infection. Please get urine examination done in a laboratory to check if there is urinary tract infection which is common around 14th week of pregnancy. I can tell you the treatment accordingly.

Dont worry. This wont have impact on pregnancy or delivery.

Thank you Doctor! I took blood and urine tests 1 week back and everything was normal. I heard from one of my friend that there is a condition called Systemic Pubis Dysfunction and when googling about it, I found all the symptoms provided are the exact thing I am facing. Could I be having this? And I heard about this Kegel exercise. Can I follow this now at 14th week also considering the fact I still have brown discharge coming out. Are there any home treatment (apart from medications) that I can do to treat this condition or pain

Dont do Kegel's exercise

Hi,

Systemic pubic function does not occur in pregnant women like you who are normal. Kegel exercise is not recommended for you as you are in pregnancy.

You dont have to do kegel exercise. Taking rest for more time will help you in reducing pain.

All tests including urine test being normal, you dont have to worry about anything.
