What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Unwanted 72?

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Jul 2015
Question: Hello Doctor,

Me and my gf had intercourse last month, dont remember the exact dates but i guess it was 7th XXXXXXX 2015 and so on next day within 24 hours she had an Ipill. Later that day at night we had an unprotected intercourse and again she took a contraceptive but a different on i.e. Unwanted 72. After that she heavily bled for around a week and it bleeding stopped. The last period she had was around last week of May before everything happened. After the bleeding that took place she didnt had any bleeding till date and now on Saturday 4th of July we had a protected sex but just to make sure she does not face pregnancy she had Ipill on Monday morning around 9:30 am.

I am worried whether she is pregnant or not. When should we expect her next periods? Please help.

Brief Answer:
Less likely to be pregnant , wait 28-30 days after previous bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You have not mentioned the cycle length of your girlfriend before the act. If it's regular cycles then it would be easy to calculate.
As your gf has taken emergency contraception and also had bleeding after that it's possible that she may get her periods after around 28-30 days of onset of previous bleeding.
If the anticipated date is crossed then a urine pregnancy test can be done
Hope you found the answer helpful

Hello Doctor,

Thank you for your quick reply.
Her cycle length varies every month for her. Probably due to stress and may be due to her past medical problem i.e. she had problem of cyst (not sure what exactly it is but she used to have low mg contraceptives prescribed by her gynac). She is not taking that medication past 3 - 4 months.

As i have mentioned earlier, when we had intercourse on 7th XXXXXXX night she had Ipill within 24 hours on next day, and again later that night we had unprotected sex and again she a different contraceptive a day after that night and she bled for a week after that for approximately a week. Hope having different contraceptives does not have any serious consequences.

Also as i mentioned earlier, recently we had "Protected" sex on 4th July Saturday and to make she does not get pregnant she took Ipill on Monday morning around 9:30am. Also she is feeling a "bit" feverish early morning past 2-3 days along with cold (mild flowing nose). Hope this had nothing to do with this topic.

Please help. And thank you once again.

Best Regards.
Sorry forgot to mention. The morning feverish thing i was talking about does not include nausea or vomiting feeling. It just that she her body is a "Bit" hot feverish like in the morning but it vanishes in sometime and does not happen again within the whole day. She is experiencing this thing past 2-3 days

Brief Answer:
Likely to be viral rhinitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Taking different brands of emergency contraception will not have any serious consequence.
Mild fever with runny nose and cold is suggestive of viral rhinitis, and is unlikely due to I pill or pregnancy. She should consult a physician for the same.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.

Hello Doctor,

Thanks a lot for answering and clearing my doubts.

I was thinking to do the Urine pregnancy test using the pregnancy kit available in Drug stores and I was thinking to get it done today. Hope it is the right time. As she will be going home on Friday then it won't be possible for her to do any such thing at her place.

Best Regards,
XXXX
