What Causes Heavy Feeling In Chest, Breathlessness And Vomiting?

default
Posted on Sat, 12 Jul 2014
Question: Hello.... I have been experiencing a heavy feeling, tightness, in my chest in the mornings. I am not out of breath at all and even have gone to exercise a couple of days out of the week but in the evenings. I do not feel breathless or any discomfort while working out or even after. It seems to only occur in the mornings once I wake up. Sometimes I squeeze my arms together in front of me and I can feel that tightness or even when bending forward. I had also gotten a stomach virus, which only gave me diarrhea, stomach cramps, and weak feeling for about four days. Right after that is when I started experiencing this. I am better from the virus. I could understand if I had been throwing up and maybe I could be sore in my chest from that....but I did not throw up at all. I'm puzzled. What could be causing this?

Brief Answer:
It seems to be due to gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, it seems that you might be having your symptoms due to gastritis.

I would advise that you should take an antacid like Omeprazole 40mg once a day before meals along with Domperidone 30mg.
A probiotic along with digestive enzyme preparation containing pepsin and fungal diastase after meals will be helpful.

Following precautions will be helpful :-
1.Avoid spicy and oily foods.
2.Avoid being empty stomach for long periods.
3.Eat light meals prepared under hygienic conditions.

You should get your stool examined for any infection or parasitic infestation.
Further medical management can be planned after knowing the reports of the investigations.

I would also suggest that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated.

I hope this is helpful to you.
If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.
