What Causes Heavy Abnormal Bleeding And Lower Stomach Pain Post Intake Of Nexplanon?
Question: I have nexplanon but recently I have been having heavy abnormal bleeding that has occurred twice in a month. (basically two periods) I have lower stomach pain (on a scale from 10 being unbearable- 5) I usually put a heating pad on to try to relax my stomach. I have no idea what is wrong.

All above features are more suggestive of side effects of Nexplanon and these are quite common for first- time user. It will overcome with the time period until your body is adjusted with extra hormone.
Common side effects of Nexplanon include changes in menstrual periods, irregular bleeding, breast tenderness, lower abdominal pain, back pain, changes in appetite, nausea, acne, weakness, headache, depression, vaginal infection or inflammation, injection site pain, dizziness etc.
Symptomatic treatment can be given. I suggest you to take Tranexamic acid (500 mg) twice daily for 3-5 days if heavy bleeding continues. For abdominal cramp, you can take DROTIN-DS as required. Maintain genital hygiene properly.
Take healthy diet, drink more water, take adequate rest, use heating pad if you required. Give some time to eliminate this type of effects.
