What Causes Heart Palpitations, Fast Heart Rate Along With Tingling Sensation In Neck?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Mar 2015
Question: Hello. All day yesterday i had a good bit of palpitations and a faster than normal heart rate. It ranged from 90s to 110. It got up to 120 a few times but only after i got nervous for it being elevated. I just never felt quite right all day. Just had a tickling feeling in chest and was very anxious. I fell asleep pretty good last night but woke up about 2 hours later and my head felt hot and the back of my neck was sweaty. I got up and my pulse was high for about 15 minutes. Around 115. I was pretty nervous and i never know if its my heart beating fast from arrythmia or from nerves. I did however lay back down and fell back asleep with pulse back near 85 or so. This morning my pulse seems ok. Fluctuating some but not real bothersome. But i feel strange in my head. Like im in a fog. And i keep getting warm tingling feelings on the back of my neck and down both arms. It feels like they are heating up. I wore a holter and had an echo a week ago. I am waiting on results. But i dont go back for another month. Does what ia happenening to me yesterday and today sound like aomething i should seek attention on. I dont have insurance and i have already made a trip to the er and seeing a cardiologist so i hate to spend more money if its unneccessary. Thank you

Brief Answer:
If only the symptoms become worse I suggest to go to the ER...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I read your query and understood your concerns.

Your symptoms are more likely related to anxiety and stress than to cardiac problems. Stay calm and try to relax. You can take any anxiolytic drug (xanax) and drink chamomile tea to relieve anxiety.

If only the symptoms become worse or more intense I suggest to go to the ER, otherwise stay at home and follow my advice.

Wish you health!

Thank you! Im pretty sure its anxiety but i get so afraid im going to chalk something serious up to anxiety and get myself in a bind. Im hoping that if my tests come back normal i will be able to accept that im not going to drop dead. I miss the girl that never worried about death and could go to sleep at night without worrying i will not wake up due to cardiac arrest. We are iced in right now and live a ways out of town and instead of enjoying it all i could think about is what if aomething happens we cant get to thw hospital and by the time an ambulance got out here it would be too late :-(. I wasnt like this until i developed thia stupid irregular heartbeat. I absolutely hate it. It makes me so mad. Mad that i cant get peace of mind despite bein told im ok. Ive read way too much on scd and it just makes it worse. I took paxil all last year and felt much better. Then i weaned myself off after a year and was doing good until a 15 year old kid in our community died in his sleep and his autopsy came back inconclusive. I imagine ill talk to my doctor about restarting the paxil even though i hate to. I just know the God has given me this wonderful life. I am blessed more than i should be. This issue is my only hardship in life. I want so badly to live it up, be productive, and enjoy it. I must say that i do good keeping on trucking. I still work, take care of my 3 year old, my husband, and our home but it seems that i always feel afraid a little bit. I have read about so many people around my age dying suddenly with heart issues. Even though i have noticed most have either ran marathons or smoked. But many were normal healthy adults. I guess we are all in thw same boat and never know when its our last day and the people who have passwd from scd didnt want to die either. As i write these thoughts and wonder if i even want to hit send or i just writing it is making me feel better. I just want to enjoy life again. But i cant shake the feeling that something is wrong with my heart. Its annoying. Haha

Talk with your doctor to start paxil again...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

I strongly suggest to talk with your doctor to start paxil again in order to deal with anxiety. This will help you to deal with everyday life and to avoid such a terible thoughts.

I strongly advice to increase recreational activities like sport yoga meditation e.t.c. These are also of help on relieving anxiety.
