What Causes Hearing Loss In Left Ear With A History Of Ear Infections?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Jun 2016
Question: I got punched in the ear 1 week ago, i have not noticed any improvements since. I am still waiting for my appointment with my general doctor. So in my left ear i cant hear as well but sometimes i get used to it, but another thing is I also cant hear any bass or feel pressure in that ear at all. For an example, I wouldnt hear anything from a subwoofer from a song, or if i put my palm against my ear i wont feel any pressure at all. I am very worried and hope this isnt permanent. I listen to music all the time and this would make the rest of my life horrible. I have a history of ear infections (had to get tubes put in around age 7)....What do you think is going on with my ear? Could it be permanent?

Brief Answer:
Most probably it is not a permanent

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern and worry; it suggest that most probably you may be suffering from the traumatic (i.e. air pressure created) perforation of the ear drum. For your kind information it is not the permanent, most of time it heals within three months. I would like to suggest that avoid putting water, oil, ear bud and ear drop in the ear.
I would also suggests that to rule out other disease you may go for
1. Otoscopic examination of the ear.
2. Pure tone audiometry and tunning fork test.
Above mentioned tests are absolutely necessary for further management.
