What Causes Headaches When Suffering From High BP?
I do have high blood pressure and take Lasinopril (10mg) once a day.
Possible spikes in blood pressure....
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Headache is one of the signs of high blood pressure and possible heart or brain event.
I strongly advise to:
- monitor your blood pressure, record the results for future reference when showing to your cardiologist
- schedule an immediate appointment with your cardiologist as you might need to change therapy or dose and to
- run further tests: ECG, cardiac echo, stress test, holter monitoring.
If everything is ok, then, should run X-ray of sinuses and if your doctor agrees, I suggest to run ct-scan of head and neck.
If still everything is ok, then, should get your eyes checked.
Arthritis of the spine at neck level is also culprit to headaches, therefore, it should be further evaluated too.
Once again, it is necessary to evaluate the status of your heart, blood pressure and brain to exclude possible heart or brain event.
Until then, I advise to:
- take your blood pressure pills as prescribed by your doctor
- wear warm clothing to the neck area
- get more rest
- drink more water (especially if it is hot at your home town and you sweat a lot)
- take acetaminophen of ibuprofen for the pain and see if it can help.
Hope it helped! Let me know if I can assist you further!
