Brief Answer:
Probable trigeminal neuralgia.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Headache can be a complication after surgery from acoustic neuroma. There can be different types of headaches which have different mechanisms, so it would have been useful if you could have something more about its characteristics like location and distribution, character (stabbing, lancinating short lasting attacks or dull facial pain), exacerbating factors etc.

Since you say it has been due to nerve pain I will assume it is due to trigeminal nerve neuralgia or neuropathy.
The first steps tried in these cases is medication with drugs like carbamazepine, gabapentine, pregabalin, lamotrigine, baclofen.
Other alternative which is more invasive are percutaneus procedures, usually under local anesthesia, he can be home on the same day. They involve inserting a needle through the cheek next to the nerve and nerve block through injection of glycerol or balloon compression or use of radiofrequencies.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.
