default
Posted on Fri, 16 May 2014
Question: over the last seven days I have noticed a hardening mass, getting larger, next to my right teste. Is this a major concern, or is it likely to be temporary. When the area is under physical pressure it feels like it is tearing.

Brief Answer:
You should consult a physician and do some tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I am Dr.Rovena
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

Since you didn't mention any pain I assume that is a painless mass.
If you have pain, fever, blood in urine it might be a test or epidydimus infection.

There are many other condition than can cause a painless swollen test.

1)Hydrocele which is an accumulation of fluid, noticeable and painless
in the scrotum mass, may enlarge when crying.
2)Spermatocele which is a swelling in the scrotum ,noticeable and painless
mass that is separate from testicle.
3)Varicocele which is a swelling of the veins, noticeable and painless mass,
any discomfort disappears when lying down, mass may feel like a “bag of worms”
4)Tumor Unchecked which is a noticeable and painless mass connected to the testicle.
5)Hernia which is a condition in which a portion of the intestine pokes through an opening in the abdominal muscles. It is presented like a noticeable mass that may ''fall back'' into the abdomen.

I suggest to consult a physician. To help find the cause of symptoms, the doctor will evaluate your general health.
The doctor also will perform a physical exam and may order laboratory testing and imaging studies.
Laboratory testing may include:
-Blood work
-Urianalysis

Imaging test may include:
-Ultrasonography
-A test biopsy if needed.

Hope I was able to help you. If you have any further question I will be happy to help.
Good luck.
