Posted on Wed, 23 Dec 2015
Question: i injected meth a couple months ago and then i had numbness occur from my wrist to my elbow. I'm not certain but it felt like there was fluid around my wrist and now i notice a knot that has formed an inch up from my wrist on the upper part of my arm. the knot is getting harder. i don't notice other symptoms except that my palms are dry and feel like light grade sandpaper. i take bayer aspirin every day. do i need an antibiotic? is there one that you would recommend? I'm early 30s. 5'10 and 145 pounds. also i take GHB and notice excruciating lower back pain and it is in my hips. sometimes my pinky toes are numb but i stretch and that helps the pain and the numbness. i know, rehab.

Brief Answer:
Some ideas

Detailed Answer:
infections are from germs that double in under an hour. for this reason infections get noticed in hours ..maybe days but not weeks.
scar tissue takes days to weeks.
infection is caused by growing germs attacked by the immune system. there are signs of a fight. redness pain fever swelling that is angry. scar does not have a fight.

a boil can form around germs but there is still signs of inflammation. scar or scarred blood vessel would be hard but no inflammation.

while I cannot diagnose or treat without being there, I can give the objective basis for a decision, risks etc

infections go bad by continuing to grow. often, mostly, infections are stopped from growing by the immune system, then, there's nothing for antibiotics to do.

clots can break and go to the lung while forming but not after they have scarred down.
the danger from them is based on size. the fatal ones are walnut sized or much much bigger
ones the size of a pea cannot do much
