What Causes Green Stool?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: I recently had a bout with diarrhea and upset stomach for around five to six days, I don't have a gallbladder and it seemed to me that I have had this before. I think they called it gastritis. It feels like burning and churning in my stomach. The diarrhea has subsided and now the stool color is slightly green with added brown. I do take multivitamins, juice plus, and other natural supplements,

Brief Answer:
gastroenteritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

it sounds like a gastroenteritis. Green color is common during a gastroenteritis because of the faster passage of the stool. Check the supplements for any warnings about stool color, just in case. This is not a reason for concern though.

Since the diarrhea has ceased, there's not much you can do... just wait for 1-2 days to fully recover. Burning pain in the stomach can usually be relieved with H2-histamine antagonists (blockers) like ranitidine 150mg twice daily.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
