default
Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: I've been having irritation on the head of my penis, particularly around the corona. I walk a lot for my job and it feels like the head was chafed, but it has been two months and has only improved a little bit. I have seen my doctor and he said that there is nothing wrong.
-skin is red and purple
-hurts to touch the head
-no discharge/foul smell
-doesn't itch
-no discharge
-not sexually active
-feels/looks better when dry

Brief Answer:
Fungal Balanitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on the images you attached, the most likely diagnosis appears to be fungal Balanitis. Keep the area dry after washing with mild antiseptic like pyodine. Soak in warm water along with gentle retraction of the foreskin , daily to keep the penis and foreskin clean.Topical antifungal and steroid would be advised for the initial treatment. Pimecrolimus topical cream can be advised for recurrent cases that don't respond to steroids. Culture of associated discharge, if any, and assessment for phimosis should also be done, in consult with your doctor.

wishing you best of health

thanks
