Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

Excessive salivation or saliva production could be temporary or sometimes it is associated with some underlying causes that need to be ruled out include-

Dentures that are new or don't fit well or reflux esophagitis (GERD) or infection in your mouth (stomatitis or other) or allergy etc.

So,I would like to ask some more information,

Since how many days you are having excessive salivation?
Do you have any denture?
Are you taking any regular medications?
An oral issue like any gum or teeth infection or aphthous ulcers or any ulcerative lesion?

Kindly get back to me with these answers,I will give my opinion after that.

Regards,

I do not have dentures. According to my dentist, my mouth is healthy. I take numerous medications but I have taken them for quite a long time. My doctor did reduce dose/amount of allopurinol I am taking. I do have GERD and take ranitidine for that. The saliva does not taste like stomach acid. It is tasteless. It is similar to having a runny nose but the origin seems to be in my mouth. It seems as though my mouth floods. I have no nausea with it.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome again,

Thanks for sharing more information but you have not mentioned that since how many days you are having this problem.

Excessive salivation could also be related to anxiety or gastric relfux or allergic sinusitis. The ENT (like enlarged adenoids) causes should also be ruled out by complete clinical examination.

Since you are taking ranitidine for GERD,I will also suggest you to take prokinetic drugs (like levosulpride 75mg) which actually increases stomach emptying time along with effect on gaste-oesophageal sphincter and thus will prevent relfux symptoms.

Usually,it is a self limiting process if it is not from a long time.

Also, Robinul (glycopyrrolate) or oxybutynin drugs are helpful to prevent hyper salivation symptoms.

Both these drugs are available on prescription. You can consult your family physician for the written prescription.
