My baby is 9 months old.he usually passes stool once or XXXXXXX twice a day.since 4 to 5 days he has started passing 4 to 5 times stools.the poop is normal but green in colour with mucus.sometimes it is yellowish green as well.
I haven't changed his diet them why this sudden increase in frequency.he is on formula and solid.
One more thing I have been giving him ragi with cow milk but now m giving him it with XXXXXXX milk.
Could that be the reason??
Also guide me if I wish to continue giving him XXXXXXX milk then diluting in water will help?

Brief Answer:
Could be viral diarrhea - nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

It seems your kid is having viral diarrhoea. Once it starts it will take 5-7 days to completely get better.

Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.

I suggest you use zinc supplements (Z&D drops 1ml once daily for 14 days) & ORS (Each small packet mixed in 200ml of potable water and keep giving sip by sip) as hydration is very important and crucial part of treatment. If there is vomiting you can use Syrup Ondansetron (as prescribed by your paediatrician).

Regarding diet - You can use cerelac...any flavour will do. Avoid fruit juices as they might aggravate diarrhea. You can give zinc supplements & ORS apart from normal vegetarian porridges & soups.

Coming to your queries -
1. Kids of this age keep everything in mouth when they play, this could be the reason for this mild diarrhea. The impurities in the play things go into the gut and can cause this.

2. You can give ragi. I suggest you avoid cow's milk till 12 months of age. Same with buffaloes milk too.

3. I suggest not giving tetra pack...please give formula milk of either Lactogen 2 Or Nan2 which is appropriate for this age.

Brief Answer:
If the kid is active/do not worry about the frequency/no need for probiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hi...If the kid is active don't worry about the frequency.

As I have already mentioned n out previous interaction. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.

You need not give Enterogermina - it is a probiotic used only for antibiotic associated diarrhea. I suggest you not to use any medicine unnecessarily.

I remember interacting with you regarding your elder one with wheezing.

I wish your kid a speedy recovery. If you need any future medical consultation and suggestions, I will be glad to help. You can approach me at the following link. Please find the link below -
