Question: Hi! I had outpatient surgery last Friday (4/7) for a cyst on my tailbone. Still lots of pain, drainage with foul smell. Is that normal, please?

The foul smelling drainage is not normal and should be evaluated as soon as possible. This may be a sign of infection and your doctor will need to check to see if you may need a different antibiotic.

I suggest you see the physician who performed your procedure as soon as you can.

If you develop fevers, chills or progressive severe pain then we would suggest you go to your local ER for evaluation.
