Brief answer....consult an eye specialist as early as possible.
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Flashes of light at the periphery of your vision associated with or without floaters in eyes can be due to vitreous detachment or retinal detachment or even retinal tear.
You must immediately consult a doctor for thorough examination of eyes to find the cause and take appropriate measures.
There is a danger of vision loss if it is a retinal detachment or retinal tear and can result in permanent vision loss if not attended immediately.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Just spoke with my 81 year old mother in Florida who went to the eye doctor for a routine check-up. She has another appointment this coming Friday with another eye doctor for a spot behind one of her eye's. Fortunatley she through out her computer because she freaks out about anything but can you tell me what this is about and what this suggests. I'm her daughter, in Chapel Hill, NC and extemely educated. I don't worry about things I can't control. Thanks. And GO HEELS!

I had a torn retina & it was lasered to fix it, (which appears to be doing very well) since then I have had VERY blurry vision that starts with what looks like someone scribbling with a sharpie inside my eye then it changes to look like someone put a lot of pepper flecks in my eye. I also see some very large floaters. The fluid in my eye is no longer clear (per pictures by an eye doctor). My surgeon says not to worry & it will go away, but from what I have read when it is in the fluid of they eye it needs to be corrected immediately. I don't go back to the doctor for another week. it has already been one week. should I worry?
