Question: My husband is on allopurinal , lansoprozole. Since starting the lansoprazole his gout has flared up

Lansoprazole has been claimed to precipitate acute attack of gout but no definitive evidence is there.
In such scenario I advise my patients to start on Ranitidine 300 mg once a day instead of Lansoprazole.
Also I shift my patients from Allopurinol to Febuxostat 80mg once a day. It is much better then Allopurinol and also a safe drug.
