What Causes Fever, Red Rashes Throughout The Body And Face In An Infant?
Question: Grandson, aged 19 months, has run a fever and has had a red rash covering body and face for 6 days. Doctors have ruled out roseola and we are awaiting results of lab test to check for rubella. However, since it he has had symptoms, including fever, for so many days, they will be running additional tests. Rash does not seem to bother him and as long as his fever is under control, he is fine and happy. They have not given him any antibiotics up to this point. What else could be causing these symptoms?

He has no lesions or rash in mouth, throat, palms or soles of feet.
