What Causes Fever And Body Chills After A Surgical Abortion?

default
Posted on Thu, 8 Jun 2017
Question: I'm 27 years old, had 2 children (naturally)
I had a surgical abortion 2 days ago, there were no complications during the procedure. I felt fine after the procedure..Today I woke up with a slight fever, body chills and light headed, almost to the point that I can only stand up for shorts amount of time. I have had next to no bleeding either. Is this a normal reaction? My temp only has reached 38.5 C, but decreased after having paracetamol. Should I be worried

Brief Answer:
Post abortal Infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Slight fever and body chills can be due to slight infection after the procedure.
You should have an ultrasound to look for any retained products of conception in the uterus, which may lead to infection and need a second procedure.
If no retained products are present, then you should take appropriate antibiotics and paracetamol to combat the infection.
You should consult your OBGYN specialist for the same.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
