Posted on Fri, 14 Oct 2016
Question: I have some itching like fungal infection. I used cloven g and the situation improved. However, I suddenly felt a small lumplike thing under skin. It's around scrotum but on groin only. It's been 5 days but it has not gone. It does not pain though but I am very worried. I am male 33. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
Could be an enlarged lymph node.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. It seems that you are mentioning about some enlarged lymph node lying under the skin. Unless it shows rapid increase in size it is probably of no concern. However, it would be helpful if you could upload/attach an image. Also mention its size. Based on it I could guide you further.

You should not panic. Get the image uploaded and I would guide you further. You can simply upload it at the reports section.

Let me know if I could be of further assistance.

Regards

Sir, I tried to take a photo of the problem. However, the limp is not visible. It can only be felt with little pressure. I have noticed one thing today that apparently the limp becomes more prominent after a long day of work and sweat. After over night sleep it becomes less prominent. I have stopped using cloven g for the time. When the limp is prominent it should be around 1cm in diameter or less. When the itching is severe its like rashes but not like blisters. The skin gets dry and sometime if scratched becomes like dandruff. I have never noticed any red blister or something, the skin is darker though. After using cloven-g or even itch guard the itching immediately subsides, skin becomes smooth and less dark. But the itching problem generally reoccurs. Please note that previously I did not notice any lumplike thing though. You have not suggested any medication or remedy. Is there anything I need to do?

Brief Answer:
Fungal infection.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

Going by the description the lump seems to be nothing other than an enlarged lymph node which is probably associated with the infection that you describe. It is not a cause for concern. Cloben G contains Beclometasone (a steroid) along with Clotrimazole (antifungal) and Neomycin (antibiotic). The problem with the use of this medication is that although it makes the problem go away fast, it makes it return even faster. If you want to use, use candid (clotrimazole) powder. Nothing else needs to be applied. You may take cetirizine tablet once daily for a few days if there is associated itchiness.

You have correctly noted the dry dandruff like presentation which is due to the fungal infection. Clotrimazole would provide relief.

Feel free to write back.

Sir, I have uploaded a picture of the affected region for your reference. The red encircled area is approximately the location of the lump I mentioned. Its not visible, but can be felt. Please suggest if I should go with your previous prescription only or something else is required!
