What Causes Fatigue Post Flu Treatment?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Sep 2014
Question: I had the flu about 4 weeks ago. A few days after I had recovered from the flu I began to experience fatigue and weakness in both arms and legs and most recently some neck stiffness. have felt this way for the last 10 days or so. It's worse in the morning and seems to get a little better after lunch. I am still able to perform all daily activities. No limitations. I just sense the weakness. Not getting worse but not getting better either. Worried it could be ALS.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be ALS, post viral fatigue

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for choosing health care magic.

I have gone through your query and based on the details mentioned in your query I suspect post viral fatigue rather than ALS.

ALS symptoms usually do not get relieved as the day progresses.

Infection with the glandular fever virus or the influenza virus can cause fatigue for several weeks after other symptoms have gone.

However, most people recover within a few weeks from the fatigue that follows these viral infections.

Few tips to make you better:
1. Get plenty of rest and sleep.
2. Avoid stressful conditions as stress can trigger fatigue and also alter your immunity levels.
3. Replenish your energy levels by taking fresh fruit juices, vegetable soups and protein shakes.
4. Mild regular exercise to elevate your mood and also stimulate your immunity.

I assure you you will feel better in few weeks.

I hope I have helped you with this answer.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks.
